Human guards have been securing the level crossing on Tölzer Strasse in Miesbach since January.
But work has not been done here for a long time.
Deutsche Bahn explains why.
Miesbach
- Sometimes they sit under the parasol, sometimes in the car.
And whenever a train approaches the Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB), they get up and pull their orange-colored barrier tape across the lane.
Human guards have been securing the Tölzer Strasse level crossing in Miesbach since the beginning of the year.
Since the old barriers were dismantled, they have also been using the mobile system with traffic lights.
And with every further week, motorists, passers-by and residents ask themselves whether the transitional solution is now becoming a permanent solution at the most frequented level crossing in the district town.
Because: Visible work has not been done here for a long time.
Bahn explains delays
As reported, the measure is related to the renewal of the interlocking technology on the entire section between Miesbach and Bayrischzell.
The work on Tölzer Straße can only begin when all planning has been completed, a railway spokesman told our newspaper when asked.
This is dragging on because for the renewal of the control and safety technology, interfaces to the neighboring interlockings also have to be taken into account and adapted.
Commissioning of the new plant is currently planned for the end of the year.
In plain language, this means that the level crossing will run in emergency mode for almost a year.
The question arises why the old system was dismantled so early.
Deutsche Bahn's answer is as simple as it is momentous: it has failed.
The Miesbachers really shouldn't complain anyway.
Because, unlike in Hausham and Schliersee, “their” level crossing in need of renovation has so far not caused any road closures and thus no traffic chaos for weeks.
