More than 200,000 students, yeshivot students and Talmudic students began the school year today (Monday).

The opening of studies in the ultra-Orthodox sector is intended to be a pilot for the opening of the entire education system on September 1.

But, in practice, it seems to have opened in chaos, and due to the fact that the Ministry of Education was not properly prepared for the opening, it will be difficult to learn from it.

For example, in schools in Beit Shemesh, where about 14,000 students began studying this morning, no serological tests were performed to locate students who had already recovered from Corona.

In fact, the educational institutions in the city do not seem to have made any preparations for the opening of the studies, when even the wearing of masks in the classrooms was not strict.

According to the Ministry of Education, the operation of serological tests for children aged 12-3 will start today only at 16:00, although studies began already in the morning, in only three authorities - Elad, Kiryat Ya'arim and Modi'in Illit.

In Beit Shemesh, the operation will start only tomorrow, and in Bnei Brak only later this week, it is not yet known exactly when.

According to the Ministry of Education's outline for the opening of the school year, approved yesterday by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, the tests are to be carried out first in the ultra-Orthodox sector, in Beit Shemesh, Bnei Brak, Beitar Illit, Modi'in Illit and Elad, and later in educational institutions throughout the country.

Itamar Danilov, a parent of Nathan who went up to first grade this morning, told Walla!

"In the end, many of the children went through Corona or their families, so it's not certain if there will be a significant infection. In any case, the problem is with the Ministry of Education. The ultra-Orthodox would have started the school year in Elul anyway."

"The state said, 'Let's do a pilot on the ultra-Orthodox,' but what actually happened? Nothing. No preparations and nothing," Danilov said. ".

Aaron, a 17-year-old yeshiva student in the city, told Walla!

Because he is not worried about the Delta virus, but made it clear that his parents were afraid to send him to school this morning.

"I'm not bothered to go back to school with this whole Delta virus story. We were closed throughout the corona year in institutions, but my parents were worried this morning," he said.

The Beit Shemesh municipality found it difficult to explain how the educational institutions were opened without prior preparations.

Meanwhile, in preparation for returning to school, the municipality is promoting financial compensation for institutions with a high rate of vaccination.

In this way, Mayor Aliza Bloch hopes that the need for isolation will be reduced.

" no matter what. "

This morning, in an interview to -103 FM, referred to the health Ministry director Yigal Slowik fact that the children of ultra-orthodox sector and Boucher did not receive anti-gene testing before returning to study, even though the kids are back on September 1 are expected to be reviewed by the state , And said that "not everything is perfect, we went out to the outline only yesterday".
