Russian Ambassador to Vienna Dmitry Lyubinsky stressed that dialogue and mutual respect are the way to resolve differences between his country and the European Union, calling on the West to stay away from the policy of imposing sanctions.
"We appreciate Vienna's willingness to maintain a constructive and open dialogue with Moscow, however, the extent of our cooperation cannot remain insulated from the collapse of relations between Russia and the European Union," said Lubinsky in an interview with the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung, stressing that differences can only be overcome through dialogue. On the Ukrainian file, Lyubinsky indicated that it was the Kiev authorities who undermined the Minsk Agreement by not implementing the agreed terms so far, reiterating that the agreement was the only key to addressing the crisis there.
Lyubinsky called on the international community to respect the free and sovereign decision of the citizens of Crimea to reunify with the Russian Federation, pointing out that Crimea is an indispensable part of the Russian Federation as it is historically entrenched.
