In Saxony-Anhalt there are signs of a government being formed.

Three parties agree on an alliance.

That could have a signal effect for the federal election.

Magdeburg - About two months ago, Saxony-Anhalt elected a new state parliament.

On June 6, the CDU around Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff received the most votes in the state elections.

The Christian Democrat was entrusted with forming a government, and now there was a breakthrough.

As the leaders of the CDU *, SPD * and FDP * in Saxony-Anhalt announced on Monday, they were able to agree on a draft coalition agreement.

"We want to bring the German coalition into being here for Saxony-Anhalt," announced CDU state chief Sven Schulze.

At first, the negotiations had proceeded harmoniously.

But a dispute over the distribution and layout of the ministries had become public.

Originally, the CDU, SPD and FDP wanted to conclude their coalition negotiations by Sunday.

This has now been achieved with a day's delay.

According to coalition agreements, the CDU is to be given the departments for finance, education, justice, home affairs and a ministry for economy, tourism, agriculture and forestry.

In addition, Haseloff's party is said to be responsible for culture.

The social ministry is to fall under the responsibility of the SPD, as well as a ministry for science, climate protection, the environment and energy.

The Ministry for State Development, Digitization and Transport goes to the FDP.

Saxony-Anhalt: Party members from the CDU, SPD and FDP still have to agree to the German coalition

Now the members of the CDU and SPD still have to decide on the draft. A state party congress votes on this within the FDP. Saxony-Anhalt would be the fourth federal state in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany in which a so-called German coalition of CDU, SPD and FDP would be formed. Previously, such a three-way alliance had only existed in Berlin, Bremen and the Saarland. The last German coalition ended in 1959.

If the members of the three parties are in favor of the coalition alliance, the incumbent Prime Minister Haseloff could be re-elected Prime Minister on September 16 in the Magdeburg state parliament. Haseloff had headed a Kenya coalition made up of the CDU, FDP and Greens * as head of the country since 2016. However, the approval of the Germany coalition that is now being sought is not necessarily certain, especially among the Social Democrats.

If the tripartite alliance should be decided, it could possibly also serve as a potential coalition model for the federal election *. The first advocates had already spoken out. Among other things, FDP leader Christian Lindner signaled that he was not averse to this constellation *. There were also positive voices from the CSU.
