The novel “The White Feather” by Dr. “Lynn Greer” builds its plot from the difficult events that swept the city of Homs during the war years, to tell in a narrative style and realistic descriptive language the stories of the people who lived them.

Regarding the novel, which hosted the Sobhi Shuaib Gallery for Fine Arts in Homs, its signing ceremony, “Ghurair” explained to SANA that its title symbolizes a white feather that fell from a bird’s wing over Homs to wander among the alleys of the city and hear the stories and stories of its residents, telling them and expressing their pain and sorrows due to the war, and in return herald a better tomorrow for these Beautiful city.

The novel, which was published by Dar Al-Kinana in Damascus, and has 250 pages, chronicles the events according to the bad news with realism and narrates social human issues that in one way or another affected our lives and our subsequent problems, but at the same time made us more solid in confronting them.

On her writing experience and the reasons that prompted her to pursue it, Gharir, a dentist who graduated from Al-Baath University, explains that she began a long reading journey since childhood, to be influenced later by Arab women writers such as Ahlam Mosteghanemi, Nawal El Saadawi, and Colette Khoury, who personally encouraged her to do so, to move towards writing memoirs and social thoughts and then stories. The short story in Homs newspaper and Al-Orouba and Al-Thawra newspapers before she decided to collect it and publish her first book.

The book was signed in conjunction with the opening of a book exhibition in the hall, in cooperation between the branch of the Union of Fine Artists in Homs, the Zenobia Book Foundation and Dar Al-Rabea Publishing, in the presence of an audience of writers and plastic artists.

Sawsan Khabbaz, the supervisor of the event, explained that the exhibition lasts for a week and includes about a thousand different titles and targets all age groups, cultural and intellectual, and deals with historical, social, philosophical, literary and theatrical topics and research, in addition to collections of stories, dictionaries, dictionaries and books for children.

Plastic artist Samira Medawar saw that plastic art and book converge at one point, which is creativity, and called at the same time to embrace such book fairs specialized in plastic life and its pioneers.
