Three firefighters were injured in the wildfire, which is the second largest in California's history.
Reuters quoted the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as saying that the raging Dixie fire northeast of San Francisco had spread to 489,287 acres.
The department indicated that the fire has been active for days and that it continues to spread, noting that it has been contained by 21 percent.
It is noteworthy that this is the second largest wildfire in California after a massive fire that broke out in August last year and destroyed more than one million acres.
At least eight people were reported missing yesterday due to the fires.
