Now he chaired his last annual general meeting and was adopted.

Langengeisling - Johann Pichlmair was commander of the Langengeisling volunteer fire brigade for 28 years.

His retreat was the focus of the annual general meeting in the tool shed.

The board elections led by Mayor Max Gotz brought no changes.

After 28 years in the service, Pichlmair had handed over the office to his long-term deputy Jürgen Mesz (we reported). Chairman Karl Patzelt reported that Pichlmair joined the fire brigade in 1976 when he was 18 years old. In 1993 he took over the command. "You are the calming pole in our fire department and a top man," praised Patzelt. "It was always a great time with you, thank you." Pichlmair was celebrated with standing ovations by the 47 members and some guests of honor. His fellow board members surprised him not only with a series of pictures that were shown on canvas. Pichlmair also received a voucher for a joint wine tasting and a large sign with the inscription "Stifflbauer-Hof" - the home of the outgoing commanding officer.

“I didn't think you were so crazy,” said Pichlmair, touched.

He thanked the board for the good cooperation.

In his five electoral terms, the Langeislinger Wehr had become a completely different fire brigade, primarily because of the tool shed.

Pichlmair is particularly pleased with the “super-trained, powerful team and the active youth”.

In his last annual report, the commander informed that the number of operations in 2020 had fallen from 37 to 28 compared to the previous year.

These included ten fires and 14 technical assistance.

In March 2020, the armed forces also briefly supported the construction of the Corona auxiliary hospital in the air base.

Since only small groups were possible, there were more exercises in number, which meant more work for the managers, said Pichlmair.

In autumn the practice had to be completely stopped again.

At the beginning of 2020 there was still a basic training, a ski trip and an active meeting.

The troop training, the general assembly and the date for Watten had to be omitted.

The new commander Mesz announced that exercises should continue from September, including during the floods.

This topic also moves district fire chief Christian Seifert.

“We already have good equipment, but we still have to make progress with flood protection,” he said.

OB Gotz shares this opinion.

He annoys that the plans for urban flood protection have been going on for eight years, but that there is often a standstill or regression, "because we have to deal with the particular interests of citizens".

Gotz hopes for a good cooperation with the new commander, there are many challenges.

Due to large development plans with additional living space, the demands on the three fire brigade locations would also increase.
