The incident began last night, after several shots were fired at Peretz's vehicle on Haneviim Street in Bat Yam.

The shooting occurred while Peretz was driving the vehicle, and when her four-year-old daughter was sitting in the back seat.

Police announced immediately after the incident that they had begun searching for suspects, and set up checkpoints in Bat Yam and the area.

According to one eyewitness, the shooter was standing near the WIZO residence located on the street, fired at the vehicle and fled.

The police announced after the incident that the investigation was imposed on the Tel Aviv police station, with a number of directions being investigated, but at the time they believed that the main direction was a mistake in identification.

"We ran straight to the car to see what happened," said Shlomi, one of the eyewitnesses at the scene. "We saw a woman sitting in the driver's seat. We tried to open the door, knocked on the window and she was shocked. She was conscious at that point. I recognized the window next to the driver's open and we opened the back door. We heard the little girl screaming, I pulled her out of the car seat. She was hysterical. "Terrible, I searched to see that the girl was not injured and I saw no signs of blood on her. She heard people shouting for an ambulance, and she went into more hysteria. All this time she did not get out of my hands," he described.

Peretz's condition continues to be difficult, and she is hospitalized in the neurosurgical intensive care unit at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, while she is anesthetized and breathing. Prof. Racheli Grossman, deputy director of the neurosurgical department, updated earlier about her condition, saying that he "deteriorated very quickly so she was put to sleep and resuscitated. There is a suspicion of bleeding.
