The city cycling campaign in Peiting came to an end with record participation.

377 cyclists worked hard on the pedals for three weeks and covered an impressive 47,456 kilometers together.

That brought fourth place in the district ranking.

Peiting

- For the third time, Markt Peiting took part in the campaign.

It was the most successful to date, after 303 cyclists followed the call to participate at the premiere and last year 258.

“You can be very satisfied with that, even if there is always room for improvement,” says town hall employee Theda Smith-Eberle, who was responsible for the organization.

One of the 19 registered teams stood out in particular.

The Peiting Middle School not only had the most cyclists with 238 athletes, but also secured first place in the team ranking with around 19,000 kilometers covered.

Throughout the district, the middle school students only had to admit defeat to the Penzberg grammar school and the Schongau Pfaffenwinkel secondary school, which pedaled even more diligently.

Behind the middle school, the company team from ept made it to the podium in Peiting, whose 22 cyclists cycled 4,189 kilometers, and the 16-man team from the Peitinger Greens, who came in just third with 4111 kilometers.

The hardest-working cyclist drives 1706 kilometers

The most active of the 377 cyclists delivered a particularly impressive performance.

At the end of the three weeks he had 1706 kilometers to book.

The hardest-working woman in the field also covered an impressive 862 kilometers.

Peiting's mayor Peter Ostenrieder, who himself had also pedaled, can only take his hat off to such achievements.

"All in all, it is nice that the campaign has found a very broad base in the village, from administration to companies and associations to family groups," said the town hall chief happily.

"That can only be an incentive to continue to point out the topic of cycling again and again in future campaigns like this."

Award ceremony planned after the summer vacation

The fact that his community had to give way in the district comparison Weilheim, Penzberg and Peißenberg does not bother the mayor. "Everything is flat there, so it is easier to cycle," he notes with a wink. The hunt for records is not in the foreground at all. "The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of how much you can do in town by bike and how important this means of transport can become increasingly, on the one hand for health reasons, but also with regard to climate protection," emphasizes Ostenrieder.

Of course, the hardest-working Peitinger cyclists shouldn't go out empty-handed.

After the summer holidays, they will be awarded at a small award ceremony, promises the mayor, who is already looking forward to the next edition in the coming year.

"Of course we hope that a lot of Peitingers will take part again."
