The US government issued a commercial warning on July 16 to US companies in Hong Kong, stating that after Hong Kong’s implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Act in 2020, the operations and activities of US companies in Hong Kong are at risk.

The English version of the Global Times today (10) quoted an unnamed source as saying that the US Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau convened a meeting of some US companies in Hong Kong to pressure them to withdraw from Hong Kong on the grounds that the risks of doing business in Hong Kong have increased.

According to the report, the source also said that the move indicated that the United States tried to intervene in market activities through administrative measures after issuing a risk warning to Hong Kong.

The report also pointed out that Tian Feilong, director of the National Hong Kong and Macau Research Association, said that the US's actions once again exposed its plot to intervene in Hong Kong affairs and undermine China's sovereignty and security interests.

According to earlier reports, the US government issued a commercial warning on July 16 to US companies in Hong Kong, stating that after Hong Kong’s implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Act in 2020, the operations and activities of US companies in Hong Kong are at risk.

This advisory (advisory) was issued by the U.S. State Department, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Land and Resources, warning that companies in Hong Kong are bound by the laws of this place, including the national security law of the port area.

An American citizen has been arrested under the National Security Act of the Port Area.

The warning text also pointed out that companies face risks related to unauthorized electronic monitoring and the delivery of company and customer data to the authorities.

The article also stated that individuals and companies should be aware of the potential consequences of contact with sanctioned individuals or entities and warn them that they may face retaliation from China for complying with US and other international sanctions.
