After the controversy over the delay in the arrival of the second component of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and the delayed agreement with Pfizer, the head of the Buenos Aires government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, questioned the National Government's vaccination plan against the coronavirus: "He put all the eggs in the same basket ".

The Buenos Aires official mainly criticized the Alberto Fernández administration's plan to focus on a single supplier, initially.

"It would have been necessary to have tried to buy to diverse companies, to diversify the risk from the beginning and

not to put all the eggs in a basket

", it launched.

He considered that the situation "is so sensitive that

you cannot have everything bet on just one person because Sputnik 2 happens to you and we have a problem

."

"If Pfizer can be bought now, why couldn't it have been bought earlier?" He exemplified the agreement reached with the North American laboratory, after more than a year of controversy.

"I would have tried with all of them at the same time, so if you have problems with one, you go to another provider. To have one more alternative and then see who delivers," said Larreta.

On the promises of the Government regarding vaccination, he launched: "He had committed to dates and numbers and that there would be 20 million vaccines by February."

When asked about the possibility of the City buying vaccines, Larreta explained: "Cities do not buy vaccines, they are distributed by national governments. The attempt was made. But they

gave us permission to buy vaccines much later.

from which the vaccine purchase process began. "

He added that, seeing the delay by the Nation with the second component of the Russian vaccine, "in the City we launched a very scientific and in-depth study a month and a half ago to see if it could be made compatible with another vaccine."

In this sense, he highlighted the speed of action: "On Wednesday afternoon the positive result of the compatibility study was announced, on Thursday the shifts were opened and on Friday morning we were vaccinating. In less than 48 hours, people he was already getting vaccinated. "

"It is extremely urgent that we give both doses, especially in view of the possibility of the Delta variant. People are accepting the possibility of being vaccinated with another dose," he said in this regard.

Finally, Larreta referred to the jerks with the Province and Nation: "There was good coordination in the first months and it was diluted.

One day we learned from the newspapers, without any prior notice, that classes were closed

in the City and there it was a strong discussion. "

Regarding the presence in the schools, he stated that "in the end our position was valid", referring to the fact that the Province ended up accompanying the initiative, previously criticized.

"We always defended that the boys had to be in the classroom and the truth was that we were right," he concluded.
