Angela Merkel and the prime ministers agreed on new corona rules at a renewed MPK.
The overview of the resolutions can be found here.
Berlin - On August 10th, the Prime Ministers of the federal states and Chancellor Angela Merkel met once more to discuss the current Corona situation.
At their MPK, they decided on new rules for Germany, which should bring the country safely through the coming months in view of the increasing number of infections, but also an increased vaccination rate.
Corona summit adopts new rules: compulsory testing for unvaccinated people is coming
First of all, the so-called “epidemic situation of national scope” is to be extended by three months beyond September.
This regulation is the legal basis for all Corona measures.
The Bundestag still has to approve this decision in September.
In addition, there should now be tougher rules for unvaccinated people, which should come into force in August.
According to the so-called 3-G rule (vaccinated, recovered, tested), unvaccinated people with an incidence of 35 or more must present a negative corona test in order to gain access to indoor spaces.
This applies in particular to the following rooms:
Access to retirement and nursing homes, hospitals and facilities for the disabled
Access to indoor dining and cultural or sporting events that take place indoors
Indoor sports (fitness studios, sports halls, swimming pools)
Body-close services (hairdressers, cosmetics and the like)
Corona summit adopts new rules: tests will no longer be free from October
Accommodation, such as staying in hotels, is treated separately.
A negative test is required on arrival and twice a week during the stay.
Antigen tests that are not older than 24 hours and PCR tests that are not older than 48 hours are valid.
In addition, rapid antigen tests will no longer be free from October 11th. Background: Since a vaccination offer could be made to every citizen by October, further assumption of costs by the federal government and thus the taxpayer is no longer indicated. However, the tests should continue to be free of charge for people who cannot be vaccinated or for whom there is no general vaccination recommendation. This affects pregnant women as well as children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
In addition, the incidence should no longer be used alone as a decisive indicator for the corona situation.
Now other indicators, such as the vaccination quota, the burden on the health system and the number of serious illnesses, are to be included in the assessment of the situation.
The background to this is that the incidence allows other conclusions to be drawn because of the now higher vaccination rate.
However, there is still no final formula for which variables are weighted and how.
This should follow.
In addition, more spectators are admitted to major events: Now more people can again, for example, in the football stadiums - half of the seats can now be occupied.
However, regardless of the size of the stadium, there may be a maximum of 25,000 spectators on site.
Corona summit ended: economic aid will be extended
The Corona economic aid should also be extended. The bridging aid III Plus, which previously ran until the end of September, as well as the facilitation of access to short-time working allowance are now to run until the end of the year, as it was said on Tuesday in government circles on the sidelines of the deliberations of Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) with the prime ministers of the states. Merkel said after the video conference that the federal government had promised that the bridging aid would be extended. According to the decision paper, the federal states are asking the federal government to extend the easier access to short-time work allowance.
