On the A9, navigation devices guide motorists to the motorway exit - wrongly, as the Upper Bavaria police reported in a tweet.
Allershausen / Munich - People in Bavaria enjoy the summer holidays.
But every trip by car usually also includes long journeys on the motorway.
The hours in the car should pass as stress-free as possible thanks to the route planning of navigation devices.
But the navigation aids strain the nerves of the drivers on the Autobahn 9 in the direction of Munich.
Allershausen / Neufahrn: GPS devices divert drivers - even though there are no traffic jams
As the Upper Bavaria North police tweeted on August 9th, many drivers drove on the wrong track thanks to their navigation devices.
The route planner guided the driver on unnecessary detours, even though there were no accidents or other traffic disruptions.
As the police reported, many motorists were directed from the motorway at the Allershausen exit.
According to the police, obstacles between Allershausen and Kreuz Neufahrn have been displayed in navigation devices for a few days.
There, however, the traffic has been largely trouble-free in the past few days.
Autobahn 9: Police suspect “technical problems” behind navigation breakdown
The police suspected "technical problems" with the navigation aids, which give drivers extra kilometers.
The motorway police in Freising became aware of calls from motorists who reported the misinformation of their navigation systems.
Currently, the disruption still seems to exist, although the traffic on the A9 in this section does not give any reason for a detour.
It remains uncertain whether a particular model will be particularly affected by the technical glitch.
A driver in Lenggries also learned that navigation devices do not always show the perfect route.
A three-hour recovery was the result of his “blind” trust in the navigation aid.
