New survey surprised: Scholz depends on Baerbock and Laschet - and can suddenly become chancellor

The CDU and CSU are moving further away from the 30 mark in the “Sunday trend”.

SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz currently seems difficult to catch up in terms of popularity.

Berlin - "Scholz tackles it".

In short: SPD.

So the newly invented (almost correct) acronym and official motto for the Bundestag election of the Social Democrats.

After the stumbling of the chancellor candidate competitors Annalena Baerbock and Armin Laschet, they put their trust in the person of Scholz.

Does it work out?

Chancellors are not directly elected in Germany - but if they were, Scholz would, at least according to current surveys.

What was the last thing you heard from Scholz?

At least he can be seen, like his colleagues, on an election campaign tour across the country.

He rejects the request for a special representative for the flood areas.

He wants to see the epidemic situation of national scope resolved by the Bundestag extended beyond September - unlike the Union.

Federal election 2021: CDU / CSU continue to lose in the “Sunday trend”

According to a survey by the polling institute Insa, it continues to lose approval.

The CDU / CSU are therefore 26 percent, one percentage point less than a week earlier, as a current survey (published on August 8) on behalf of

Bild am Sonntag

(BamS)

showed.

The SPD has increased by one point to 18 percent and is on par with the Greens, who hold the value of the previous week.

The FDP loses one point to 12 percent.

The AfD remains at 11 percent, the left gains one point to 7 percent.

The election is on September 26th.

With these values, a traffic light coalition (SPD, FDP and Greens) would achieve a majority and since the SPD and the Greens are on par, the party, which is only 0.1 percent ahead in the end, could provide the chancellor.

That means for Scholz everything is possible again.

“Sunday trend” survey: Scholz receives more than twice as many points as Baerbock

In terms of popularity, Olaf Scholz is also way ahead of the chancellor candidates.

If this were possible, the finance minister would vote 27 percent as chancellor in a direct election (+5).

14 percent (+1) would decide for the CDU chairman Laschet.

Green candidate Annalena Baerbock would get 13 percent as in the previous week.

However, 36 percent stated that they did not want to vote for any of these three in a direct election.

Surveys on the 2021 federal election: Basically just a picture of the mood

Election polls are generally always fraught with uncertainty. Among other things, declining party ties and increasingly short-term voting decisions make it more difficult for opinion research institutes to weight the data collected. In principle, surveys only reflect the opinion at the time of the survey and are not predictions of the outcome of the election.
