Nine dream pools

1OKU Ibiza is a new hotel on the Balearic island.

The accommodation, inspired by the 'wabi-sabi' philosophy (a Japanese concept that refers to the beauty of the imperfect), opened its doors last May in Sant Antoni de Portmany, a town near Cala Gració, where can be reached in a short walk from the hotel.

Its pool, 50 meters long, is one of the largest in Ibiza.

2Viceroy Los Cabos is a 'resort' in the heart of San José del Cabo, a perfect base camp for exploring the coast of Baja California Sur (Mexico). One of its essentials is to reserve time to enjoy its pool bar with sea views. In total, it has five curvilinear pools in a row (including one with the Nido restaurant in the middle). A project by the Mexican architect Miguel Ángel Aragonés, who took water as the main source of inspiration for the design. CHRISTIAN HORAN

3Last spring the highest infinity pool in the world was inaugurated. And, of course, it is in Dubai (UAE), the same city that also houses the tallest building in the world (Burj Khalifa) or the largest shopping center. It is located on the top floor of the Dubai hotel (77), and from its almost 300 meters high the metropolis 'skyline' unfolds and some of its architectural landmarks, such as La Palmera, an extravagant district built on the sea. 4Camouflage between the landscape is the main pool of Laucala, a 'resort' island in the archipelago of Fiji (South Pacific).

This is a luxury accommodation, accessible only by the hotel's private jet from Nadi International Airport.

It has 25 villas, a 'spa', a golf course and of course this 21,500 square meter lagoon style pool with a glass cube for a different dip.

5From the pool and terrace of the so-called Flower Pool of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo you have magnificent views of Lake Como (Italy).

But, in addition, this 'art deco' style accommodation has another pool that floats on the waters of the western part of the lake from which there are magnificent views of the Grigna massif.

6There are few sunsets like those enjoyed from the salt water pool of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, in Antibes, which was carved out of the basalt rock in 1914. If during a trip through the heart of the Côte d'Azur, this is the accommodation chosen, we must not neglect to stroll through its 35-hectare garden, where some 300 centenary olive trees await.

7The water in the Mulia Resort - Nusa Dua Oasis Pool, decorated with statues of Balinese women (six meters high) holding rice bowls on their heads to represent prosperity, merges with that of the Indian Ocean.

The hotel, with 526 rooms and 'suites' between 57 and 140 square meters, stretches along the fantastic beach of Nusa Dua, on the island of Bali (Indonesia).

8The beautiful view of the Douro River from the hammock or in the water is the protagonist of the Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta, in São João da Pesqueira, in the heart of the Alto Douro wine region (Portugal).

In addition to being a hotel, it is a farm with its own vineyard, and a perfect base camp to learn about and taste the wine tradition of the area, declared a world heritage site.

9The Grace Hotel is located in the photogenic village of Imerovigli, on the Greek island of Santorini.

And, like the pools in many of its villas, the one at this hotel also perches on a terrace.

A delicious 'infinity pool' with views of the impressive Santorini Caldera and the Aegean Sea from 300 meters high.

At 22 meters long, the accommodation boasts the longest infinity pool in the villa.
