Germany's schools are "in large parts not well prepared for the start of school", says KBV boss Gassen.

Green Chancellor candidate Baerbock is therefore calling for a "pact".

Berlin - Germany's corona course is being renegotiated.

The federal and state governments will meet on Tuesday to discuss how to proceed in the pandemic.

Above all, it is about the regulations for vaccinated and unvaccinated people - another population group (once again) plays a subordinate role: children and especially schoolchildren.

School in Corona times: "I'm shocked at how a new wave of infections is risked"

Children and young people appear twice in the resolution proposal for the video link.

People up to the age of 18 should continue to receive a corona test free of charge.

But that was almost it with the youngest members of society.

In the envisaged “3G rule” (vaccinated, recovered, tested ”), a subordinate clause states that“ pupils who are regularly tested as part of a mandatory school protection concept ”should be exempted from the obligation to test.

So far, there has been little or nothing to start school after the summer vacation.

This is also due to the fact that the responsibility lies with the education ministries of the respective countries.

According to critics, however, more initiative is needed from the federal government in order to prepare schools for autumn in the best possible way.

The head of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), Andreas Gassen, currently sees the schools "in large parts not at all well prepared for the start of school".

He

told the

Rheinische Post

: "I am honestly shocked how the federal states and municipalities, with seeing eye, risk a new wave of infections among schoolchildren, their families and the teachers."

Corona: Baerbock calls for a focus on schools and daycare centers - "it takes a promise from politics"

Green Chancellor Annalena Baerbock was also critical. She called for a closer look at schools and daycare centers. "It is important that, in addition to the debate about rapid tests and vaccination readiness, the focus is on day-care centers and schools," she told the German Press Agency. “We need a pact for our children and young people. A binding promise from politicians that keeping schools and daycare centers open is a priority. "

Facilities that have been closed for weeks have left deep marks and had negative consequences for the health of children and adolescents, said Baerbock.

"Children need their place, where they not only learn, but where they can be children together," said the Greens leader.

“The key is to ensure that adults are vaccinated, especially those around children, with vaccination calls and low-threshold offers.

In this way a kind of “protective cocoon” can be formed. ”Those who get vaccinated show solidarity with the youngest.

Corona: Laschet does not want to quarantine entire classes

Federal Education Minister Anja Karliczek (CDU) told the dpa: “It is our goal that regular classroom teaching takes place in schools after the summer holidays.” The summer holidays have already started in federal states such as Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein completed. Schoolchildren are back in class. Because the infection rate is currently moderate, the presence return works. However, the educational cities ask themselves how much longer. Is there another risk of digital lessons in corona cases?

If it is up to NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU), at least entire classes should no longer be sent to quarantine if a single student is infected with the corona virus.

The health ministers are currently discussing which quarantine measures are necessary, said Laschet on Tuesday in the Düsseldorf state parliament.

“We want the children's lessons to take place face-to-face after the holidays,” emphasized the head of government.

School in Corona times: Laschet and Baerbock call for air filter systems

At the start of school in North Rhine-Westphalia in the coming week there will be a mask requirement in class in all classes, similar to last year.

Air filter devices would be used where necessary.

The state has provided a lot of money for this, which many municipalities have used.

Baerbock made a similar statement. According to the native Hanoverian, “the prerequisites have to be created so that lessons are safely possible. With ventilation concepts, air filters, test strategies, masks and the avoidance of large accumulations in closed rooms. ”All schools and daycare centers should be able to equip their rooms with air filters or at least CO2 traffic lights.
