The food expo sets up ten social enterprise booths to sell organic products to the public or receive souvenirs

"HKTDC Food Expo 2021" will open on Thursday (12th).

This expo will set up booths of social enterprises to sell various food and products, such as organic snacks, organic coffee beans and handmade cookies.

People who patronize social enterprise booths and spend up to the specified amount will have the opportunity to receive souvenirs.

Participating social enterprises include Green Home, Earth Workshop, Aunt Kang's Kitchen, etc.

There are a total of ten social enterprises participating in this exhibition. The booth is located at C02, Exhibition Hall 1E of the Convention and Exhibition Center. Some social enterprises may delay their opening or close early.

The disadvantaged groups employed by social enterprises include women, grassroots, people with disabilities, and young people with autism. The products sold are mainly organic food, products produced on the principle of fair trade, locally produced products, and community-made products. Specialty foods, including organic snacks, organic coffee beans and handmade cookies.

In addition, if citizens visit the social enterprise booths and spend up to the specified amount, they will receive a souvenir, but the number of souvenirs is limited, while stocks last.

The Food Expo will be held from August 12th to 15th, 10 am to 10 pm, and August 16th, 10 am to 6 pm.

The admission fee is RMB 25, and children aged 3 or below and seniors aged 65 or above can enter for free.

A spokesperson for the Home Affairs Department said that the Food Expo will allow social enterprises to reach more people and promote their high-quality products and services, and the public can also learn more about social enterprises.

He hopes that the public can support and patronize social enterprises to help them continue to develop and allow them as employees of disadvantaged communities to continue to find jobs and develop their strengths.

In addition, when the public is looking for and patronizing their favorite social enterprise restaurant, they can use the "Social Enterprise Restaurant" search function sponsored by the Home Affairs Department in the "OpenRice" webpage or mobile app.
