The RER A closes between Auber and La Défense

2021-08-10T10:03:38.090Z

It was cut in the evening, from 9 p.m., on this portion. Now it's all day, until August 20.

For those who have not left the Paris region, making their daily journey by public transport is increasingly difficult.

After line 6, line 14 or even the RER C, it is now the turn of the RER A to be cut off during the day.

Until August 20, on weekdays, no train will run between Auber and La Défense.

The Poissy branch, that is to say the two stations Poissy and Achères Grand Cormier, will not be served either.

In addition, from 9 p.m. and as is already the case since June 26, the line will terminate at Auber and will not stop at any station in the direction of Cergy.

Only the portion between Nanterre-Université and Saint-Germain-en-Laye is functioning normally.

You have to take a bus from La Défense to reach it.

Note that due to the passage of works trains, the waiting time at Auber will be longer between 8:54 p.m. and 9:19 p.m. - or 26 minutes - from Monday to Friday for travelers heading to Boissy.

The RATP site specifies, however, that "this particular feature will be taken into account in the route search service of the RATP and SNCF apps and sites".

24 kilometers of track renewed in seven years

However, there are still many alternatives on the intramural portion and as far as La Défense. Line 1 serves Étoile and La Défense, line 14, 8, 9, 3 and 7, the Auber district. For users of the Cergy branch, it is necessary to opt for line L. However, the latter stops at 9.45 p.m. Buses and substitute shuttles are also numerous, but the journey time is greatly extended.

This work aims to change the tracks, ballast - the large stones that support the rails - and infrastructure of what has become the busiest line in Europe and has impacted the line every summer for seven years. At the end of these two weeks, the RATP will have replaced 24 km of tracks and 28 switches in total. Elements that had not been changed since the RER A came into service forty years ago. But good news, this summer break is the last. The next meeting will then be around… 2060!
