Local residents would like the introduction of Tempo 30 for various parts of the municipality in Gmund. However, the municipality's traffic committee sees things differently.

construction and transport committee dealt with a number of transport matters at its most recent meeting.

For various community areas, residents had introduced the introduction of Tempo 30.

"Basically, according to the road traffic regulations, every car driver should drive in such a way that he can stop at any time," said Christine Wild, the head of the building department, commenting on the applications in advance. One application concerned the Bernöckerweg, here the setting up of a traffic mirror on the Riedersteinweg and the introduction of Tempo 30 were required. In order to be able to assess the application in a well-founded manner, both the police and two measurements were carried out, reported Wild. The result: 85 percent of drivers drive slower than 28 kilometers per hour anyway.

The result was that mainly residents use the street, and the street is not a hot spot for accidents. From the administration's point of view, there is no need for action, according to Wild. Mayor Alfons Besel (FWG) assured that he would continue to follow the situation. Michael Huber (Greens) suggested thinking about the introduction of Tempo 30 in the whole town. "Why not take a step forward, that would be more than overdue, it would increase safety and not hurt anyone," said Huber. Although he ran into open doors at his place, Besel reacted, he still did not think there was any speeding in the residential areas of Gmund.

Other applications related to Bichlmairstrasse, where the kindergarten, day-care center and crèche are located.

On the one hand, the 30 zone should be extended to the confluence of Tölzer Straße, and on the other, posts were required on the sidewalk.

In general, according to the applicants, the Bichlmairstraße should be closed in the area of the crèche and only be accessible via the car park of the kindergarten.

An application was also made for a traffic-calmed zone in the area of the daycare centers.

Speed display instead of 30 km / h sign

The building authority manager informed that measurements had also been made here. The result: 85 percent of the drivers here are traveling at less than 28 km / h. “Blocking the road would help the daycare center, but it would lead to an additional risk of accidents for kindergarten children,” said Wild. As far as the required conversions are concerned, the costs would not be justified in order to fulfill the purpose - especially since the police did not find any abnormalities. Besel, who was several times on site with the police, also considered an interference with the traffic here to be “disproportionate”.

Again it was Michael Huber who disagreed.

Not only he, but also Barbara von Miller (SPD) were of the opinion that the pace of the daycare had to be slowed down.

Against Huber's voice, it was then decided to set up a speedometer in Bichlmairstrasse and to collect further data.

Measurements should bring clarity

Further resolutions related to parking spaces in the area where the junction with Münchner Straße joins, which should continue to be available to the public.

The introduction of Tempo 30 for Triftstrasse was also unanimously rejected, but measurements are still to be made here when the Mangfall footbridge is completed.

The committee rejected tree gates for a short area of the village street with one vote against.
