Twitter suspended the account of Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene for a week following a new violation of the platform's rules, the company reported Tuesday.

Greene tweeted Monday that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) "should not approve covid vaccines."

He also claimed that the vaccines were "failing" and were ineffective in reducing the spread of the virus.

In response, Twitter labeled the tweet as misleading and prevented him from tweeting for a week.

The tweet, according to a company spokesperson, "was labeled in accordance with our misleading information policy on covid-19."

The account will be in read-only mode for a week due to repeated violations of Twitter rules. "

Tuesday's suspension marks at least the third and harshest penalty Twitter has imposed on Greene for sharing misinformation about the coronavirus.

In January, Greene was suspended for 12 hours for sharing conspiracy theories about the second round of the Georgia Senate election, a move the company said violated its civic integrity policy.

In July, Twitter suspended Greene again for 12 hours for sharing misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines.

(Greene was also temporarily suspended in March, but was soon reinstated after Twitter said its automated systems had acted in error.)

Under Twitter's covid-19 disinformation policy, users can receive a one-week suspension if they violate that policy four times.

Violating the covid-19 policy five or more times can lead to a permanent ban.

Twitter declined to comment on how many times Greene has violated company rules.
