It finally worked: The band “Mountain Lake Vista” was able to present their new album at the KKK in Lenggries - and there is also a new band member.
Lenggries -
“Mountain Lake Vista” wanted to present their new album in front of a large KKK audience in May 2020 at the “Kramerwirt” in Arzbach. But the corona pandemic wanted the folk band from Bad Tölz, Holzkirchen and Munich to be able to present their work on a smaller scale only over a year later. This gave the almost 50 listeners a familiar atmosphere on Saturday in the pavilion at the Arabella-Brauneck-Hotel - and three additional new songs.
Tobias Gmach (vocals, guitar, ukulele) had used the concert-free time to process experiences in Three Rivers, California. Sebastian Schaal (vocals, electric guitar, mandolin, banjo) philosophized in “Sadie Dear” about a crossing over the sea that didn't end well. And Giustina Gabelli (vocals, accordion) inspired the monotony of the lockdown when looking out the window onto Giesinger Strasse to a song in her native Italian. "Melancholy, but not sad," she described "Luce Opaca" herself.
The play particularly touched the guests that evening.
But the songs on the current Mountain Lake Vista record were also well received, especially the eponymous title “Wayfarer”.
Like “Red Road” it is calm, but has more dramatic passages.
"Hooray" and "Whiskey" created a dance atmosphere.
The latter is the band's only song with no deep content.
"It's just about drinking," explained Vinzenz Semmler (vocals, guitar, ukulele, spoon).
With the new album, the band gained a new member: Dominik Schmidt.
With his bass he also gave the songs more foundation, for example in “Indigo” about glacier melt or “Living” - a reminder to enjoy every moment in life as if it were the last.
