- The volunteers of the Lenggries mountain rescue service were alerted on Saturday (August 7th) shortly after 10 a.m. by the rescue control center about a person who had fallen on Eselauberg.

This is located south of the Brauneck and north of the Schwarzenbach near Lenggries.

Hikers fall 65 meters down on Eselauberg

According to the mountain rescue service, a 22-year-old man from the Lindau area fell about 65 meters in the steep mountain forest and came to rest on a step above a rock face.

An attendant managed to get down to the casualty in the difficult terrain and make an emergency call on 112.

Four emergency services, including the mountain rescue ambulance, drove the mountain rescue vehicle near the crash site and roped down the ambulance to the injured person.

He was only moderately injured and, after a brief assessment by the mountain rescue doctor, could be pulled up into safe terrain with the Dyneema rope and accompanied by a mountain rescuer.

Crash on Eselauberg: "The young man was very lucky"

"At such a height in this rough terrain, the young man was very lucky to have got away with such minor injuries," emphasizes mountain rescue service spokeswoman Lina Feile.

"If the man had crashed over the rock face, it would have had very serious consequences."

However, after the rope rescue, the injured was brought to Lenggries in the mountain rescue vehicle and handed over to the land rescue service there.

This brought him to the clinic in Bad Tölz.
