Holzkirchen - Anja Frank and her husband manage the fortunes of Frank Dental GmbH - a family-run manufactory that manufactures products for the dental sector.
50 employees work at the company's headquarters in Gmund - and in the next school year there are expected to be six interns from the Fachoberschule Holzkirchen (FOS).
Frank says: "That is the upper limit - we cannot absorb more due to capacity reasons."
The high proportion of students in the company was not born out of necessity: “Interns are a great support for us.” A potential that some people fail to recognize.

“Many still have major problems finding a place” - internship companies break down
Gebhard Schellhorn, school representative for specialist practical training at the FOS Holzkirchen, says: “A large number of the approximately 325 eleventh graders of the next school year now have an internship, but many still have major problems finding a place.” The lack of companies is in the Specializations in “Business and Administration” and “International Business” are particularly pronounced. Headmaster Michael Hüttl adds: "Due to Corona, numerous companies have lost employment opportunities for us." And that, although they can benefit from the model of practical training.
Two of the students who completed their internship in Gmund last school year report about Frank Dental: Amelie Herein and Philip Schumann.

At Frank Dental, the two were responsible for the company's own Instagram and Facebook appearances. Managing director Frank confirms: "Schoolchildren who have been with the company for more than six months are ideal for project work." Schumann sums this up pragmatically: "Free advertising for unpaid workers." But he does not see it as negative: "It motivates me a lot To be able to take part in such a project. ”Thanks to a lot of freedom, he learned a lot and took on responsibility. His FOS colleague Herein adds to the project work: "You gain self-confidence and I have grown personally from it." That is an experience that she can fall back on not only in school, but in life in general. The unused view of work processes also offers added value for the company, which is valued at Frank Dental.
Companies can still apply for interns in August
Because of this appreciation, Frank supports the FOS.
She says: “Many people are used for simple tasks like typing in lists instead of using them for a project.” The collaboration with Schumann and Herein was great.
Companies that can imagine accepting FOS interns in the next school year are allowed to contact the school in August. Schellhorn explains: "The students do not need to be insured by the company - liability and accident insurance is taken out by the FOS." The average working time is 34 to 36 hours per week. Establishing an internship relationship is also easy because there is no need for a written contract and there is no ongoing obligation to accept students. The school representative adds: "There is a form and a confirmation from the school."
All companies that can enable employment in the commercial or administrative area are eligible for the “Business and Administration” training course.
In the case of “international business”, there must be an international reference - for example, customs clearance when shopping or the use of foreign language skills.
"The internship takes place at two-week intervals - school and company alternate." The social or technology branches are also in demand.
