In the fight against Corona, strict rules apply in Austria.

A small café in a town on the Wolfgangsee is resisting it.

Only unvaccinated people get coffee and cake there.

Strobl am Wolfgangsee - The so-called "3-G rule" currently applies in Austria.

Hotels and restaurants are open to guests who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested.

In Strobl on Lake Wolfgang in the Salzkammergut, that's actually the case.

But there is an exception in the community of 3,641 residents: In a restaurant, only those who have not been vaccinated are served.

Anyone who is vaccinated is not served coffee.

Austria: Café only serves the unvaccinated - "We just smile at it"

As the

ORF

reports, according to Mayor Josef Weikinger (ÖVP) this is legally in order.

“You can only laugh about it, think your part and appeal to the guests not to go there.

Because that doesn't match our line, ”Weikinger told ORF.

Several attempts to talk have failed.

That's why Strobl is relying on his own strategy.

The church would not take the idiosyncratic path so seriously in order to deal with it further.

“You just smile at it,” said the mayor.

The community and tourism in the Wolfgangsee region would, however, distance themselves from the café.

The operator of the café in a health food store did not want to comment.

Corona in Austria: idyll at the Wolfgangsee

In the town of Strobl, no positive corona cases were reported on Monday (August 9th), as can be read on the website of the municipality: "Strobl currently has the traffic light color GREEN".

This is the lowest level according to the Austrian traffic light system.

The corona risk is therefore very low and so is the seven-day incidence.

Strong increase in corona cases in Austria

In Austria, 601 new corona infections and one further death were reported on Tuesday.

The number of cases has increased significantly compared to the previous week.

Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) announced on Tuesday that certain risk groups should receive the third dose in October.

It remains to be seen whether problems with opponents of vaccination can simply be smiled away.

The tone on the subject of mandatory vaccinations is getting rougher in Germany.

“The vaccination debate is polarizing.

There is now a rift through society, ”said the board member of the Patient Protection Foundation, Eugen Brysch, of the dpa news agency.

The "front line" has meanwhile arrived at the workplace, even friends and families are affected by the conflicts.

At the Corona summit this Tuesday, the federal and state governments will discuss how to proceed with the corona pandemic.

The focus of the political debate is the question of how more people can be induced to vaccinate - and whether there should be restrictions for those who are not vaccinated.
