Before chairing a new Health Defense Council, the Head of State hammered home from Fort Brégançon that "the crisis is not behind us".

It is a new pressure surge to encourage the French to be vaccinated.

Ahead of the Defense Council of Wednesday, August 11, Emmanuel Macron spoke from Fort Brégançon on the health situation, which is greatly degraded.

In the Overseas Territories, "

an emergency scenario remains in front of us today

", he assured.

While in Corsica and Occitania, "

medical evacuations

" and "

deprogramming

" have resumed.

The crisis is not behind us.

While the Delta variant has led to a rebound in the epidemic for several weeks, Emmanuel Macron was particularly worried.

During a filmed speech, the Head of State hammered home the importance of vaccination, especially in overseas territories, where the use of the vaccine remains particularly low.

"

If we had to demonstrate that vaccination is the most effective means of responding to this Delta variant, unfortunately our West Indies deliver us a cruel demonstration

", he affirmed.

Faced with an "

explosion of serious forms

", it is also a question of showing "

unconditional solidarity of the whole Nation

".

To mark this solidarity, the Minister of Overseas Territories, Sébastien Lecornu, himself went to Guadeloupe on Tuesday, and should be joined during the day by Olivier Véran, Minister of Health.

"A weapon that our country has"

While the situation is also worrying in France, Emmanuel Macron assured to be able to "

avoid

" the scenario of a re-containment, now in force in the West Indies. "

Thanks to a weapon that our country has (...): the vaccine

", he reiterated, while worrying about a "

slowing down in recent days in making appointments

". "

We must meet at least the target of 50 million first-time vaccinated at the end of August,

" assured the Head of State.

To date, 45.3 million French people have received at least one dose, and 37.8 million have a complete vaccination schedule.

For middle school, high school and college students, it will be possible at the start of the school year to be vaccinated "

on the premises of the courses

".

As for people over 80 years old, the executive has initiated "

preparations for the vaccination reminders

".

Adopting a firm tone in the face of anti-health pass, Emmanuel Macron finally recalled the “

dozens of hours of debate

” which then gave rise to “

constitutional control

” to adopt the generalization of the health pass.

"

Our institutions are functioning (...) and we must continue on this path: that of constantly renewed confidence in our institutions

", he added.

And to conclude: "

Clarity and transparency, democratic functioning of our institutions, enlightened confidence in science and manifestation of the civic spirit and the spirit of responsibility of the citizens, it is the compass which is ours.
