Ankara-Sana

Forest fires are still raging in five regions of southwestern Turkey, while devastating floods continue in the northern province of Bartin.

According to the Anadolu Agency, speaking on behalf of the Turkish regime, the fire in the Yatagan area in Mugla state is still burning, and the most alarming is that it has been going on for 12 days, while maintaining its first degree of intensity.

According to the residents of the area, the Yatagan fire is almost reaching the Jin Mountains in the neighboring Aydin province and the Koysegiz region in Mugla province.

On the other hand, the Turkish local authorities in the Chufenli plateau area warned the local residents of the possibility of the fire reaching their areas and demanded that they be fully prepared to evacuate at any moment because the road leading to that area is almost lonely, and in the event of the worst it could be closed to the intensity of the fire.

A huge fire also broke out in a forest in the village of “Joban Banar” in the Bucak region of the Burdur province in southwestern Turkey, and quickly spread to other areas due to the gusts of wind, forcing the authorities to evacuate residential areas as a precautionary measure.

According to expert estimates, the total area of burned forests in Turkey during the recent period exceeded 100,000 hectares.

In addition, the statements of the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Bekir Pakdemirli, aroused resentment in popular circles, as he stated in a sarcastic manner that his country was ready to provide planes to Greece to relieve the fires inside, which the popular circles saw as a jump on the major problem that appeared in Turkey at the height of the fires, where there was no Specialized planes are enough to deal with the fires, and the Turkish government called on all countries of the world to deal with the problem it faced, including Greece itself.

New fires broke out in other areas of the forests of the region, where the local authorities in the Dalaman region announced the presence of a smoke cloud in the center of Cosmoire from the forests of the region, and the same was repeated near the airport of the Dalaman region, where a fire managed to devoured three hectares of trees.

Official statistics published by the Turkish government on the results of two whole weeks of forest fires in the southwest of the country said that 7320 Turkish farmers from 22 provinces completely lost their lands and that 172 Turkish villages became their local residents without any agricultural resources after the fire destroyed them all.

The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture announced that hundreds of sheep and goats herds were lost, in addition to six thousand rooms for honey production, and more than seven thousand vehicles, trucks and tractors, and that the fires destroyed 549,000 tons of agricultural warehouses, according to the ministry's data.

The Turkish researcher, Erdan Yuvalci, revealed that with the decline in the intensity of these fires from one party, the government is expected to hold conspiring foreign parties responsible for what happened to create a state of “political terrorism” inside the country and to repudiate the overall responsibility for what happened, as the facts revealed inability and poor coordination between state institutions.

The fires disrupted the tourist season in the country, with the expectation that the value of the Turkish lira would depreciate at high rates, and this was considered a deduction from the popular balance of the Justice and Development Party.

The Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Bekir Pakdemirli, had announced earlier that 275 fires had erupted in 53 provinces. Forest fires affected several states in southern and southwestern Turkey, including Antalya, Adana, Mugla, Mersin and Osmaniye, and the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, declared them disaster areas.

The death toll from those fires has reached 6 deaths and dozens of injuries since July 28.

For its part, the Bartin State Health Directorate announced that during the past hours, the floods claimed the life of at least one person, the loss of another, the injury of about 20 others, and the occurrence of landslides on the Bartin Abdipasha Ulus highway.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said that heavy rain began to fall from yesterday evening in the regions of Sinop Ayancik, Kastamonu Bozkurt and Azdavai.

Turkish media reported that seven villages were besieged by water, flood waters inundated village houses, flooded livestock and destroyed their agricultural stores.
