Together with Lapid, Minister Meir Cohen, who is a native of the country, Mogdor, flew to Morocco.
The chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Ram Ben-Barak, also joined the trip. Ben-Barak was involved as a private citizen in the first contacts to renew relations between Israel and Morocco during 2017. Singer Shimon Buskila also joined in.
In December last year, Israel and Morocco renewed diplomatic relations between them, which were severed following the outbreak of the second intifada in 2000. The renewal of relations was part of a tripartite agreement with the United States.
