Freising

- The Freisinger Volksfest is canceled this year - but a replacement is planned that can be seen: Under the direction of the Munich showman Karl Kollmann (35), a 15,000 square meter "family park" is to be set up in the Luitpoldanlage from 3 to 19 September develop. A large number of attractive rides are grouped around a historic beer garden, and of course the usual folk festival delicacies are also offered. For weeks, Kollmann has been in close coordination with the city administration, which is fully behind the family park, as Adrian Gewald from the public order office says. At the moment the concept has been submitted to the District Office for approval. There have already been positive preliminary discussions. It is therefore almost certain that the family park will be approved. The green light has also been given in other cities.

From the Himalayan train to the jungle camp, everything is included

The man who acts as the organizer here and who conceived the concept of the “Freising Summer in the City” is called Karl Kollmann and is the offspring of a long-established family of showmen. He has stretched out his feelers in the direction of fellow showmen in order to offer the Freisingers the most attractive family park possible. Young and old visitors can look forward not only to classics such as bumper cars or the Himalayan train, but also to a “jungle camp” (with goose bumps) and rides such as freestyle, the tropical trip, a bouncy castle park and a swing boat and the Freak, a 40-meter attraction that is reminiscent of a giant fan. "It was important to me to accommodate as many showman colleagues as possible who have had a really difficult time because of Corona," explains Kollmann.“There are also some Freising people among the showmen. On the other hand, people are hot for some kind of folk festival. And I believe that we can offer a great replacement with the family park. ”The concept has already proven itself in other cities. Some of the rides on Theresienwiese are currently in use. "We have now selected Freising because we come from the region and the city is close to our hearts".because we come from the region and the city is close to our hearts ”.because we come from the region and the city is close to our hearts ”.

The hygiene and safety requirements are strict

As the organizer, Kollmann bears “full responsibility”, as he says.

The required hygiene and safety concept is strict so that Corona does not throw a spanner in the works of the family park: the beer garden only offers 400 seats, which is also called "historic" because Kollmann places old-timers there.

A total of around 1000 visitors have been allowed to date, and they will probably have to register beforehand.

“That means that a maximum of 600 people would then be out and about on the premises outside the beer garden,” Kollmann calculates.

“Spread over 15,000 square meters, you can hardly see them anymore”.

The organizer hopes that those who have been vaccinated or recovered are not counted, which would possibly significantly increase the maximum number of visitors.

The “Freising Summer in the City” was stretched to 17 days - significantly longer than the folk festival - because otherwise the enormous effort would not pay off.

“Safety and hygiene concepts cost a lot of money,” says Kollmann, “from the security man to the hygiene dispenser in front of every ride”.

That is why he asked for two euros as a contribution towards expenses (children one euro, under six years of age free admission).
