Great tee-offs, precise approximations and strong putts - there was a lot on offer for the golfer's heart at the Wolf Open in Tegernbach. A local hero surprised.

Great tee-offs, precise approximations and strong putts - there was a lot on offer for the golfer's heart at the Wolf Open in Tegernbach.

A local hero surprised.

- After three days of the Pro Golf Tour, Mathieu Decottignies Lafon was chosen to be the winner. The best player from the Holledau Golf Club and also the best amateur was Maxi Heller, who shared 35th place. The 26-year-old from Freising caused a sensation, especially on the first lap. With a 65, the local hero briefly took the lead. With six birdies with only one bogey, Heller could be more than satisfied. On Sunday things didn't go quite as smoothly for the multiple Holledauer club champion. On holes 10 to 18 he played five bogeys with only one birdie and came into the clubhouse with a 72. In the final round on Monday, Heller made serious blunders on holes seven and eleven and ended the tournament with a 75 round - and a total of 212 strokes.

The golf club coaches got off to a poor start

The other seven starters from the Holledau Golf Club all failed to qualify for the final day.

The two coaches Lee Spencer and Sascha Elender got off to a poor start on Saturday.

Florian Elender, server Kolmeder and Johannes Gerlspeck were already hopelessly behind after the first round.

Lorenz Kolmeder and Leopold Hess had hopes for the cut after the first 18 holes, but clearly missed it on Sunday.

At the top, the three French Mathieu Decottignies Lafon, Henry Simpson and Victor Veyret fought a spectacular fight from Sunday.

Decottignies Lafon finished the second round with 63 strokes, the best round in the tournament ever, and took the lead with a total of 131 strokes before the final day.

On Monday the 28-year-old made it exciting again, did a double bogey on ten and after 70 strokes found himself in first place with three tied professionals.

Mathieu Decottignies Lafon prevailed in the jump-off

Henry Simpson, Victor Veyret and the Dutchman Philip Bootsma had equalized the gap to the leaders with solid final laps.

In the jump-off, Mathieu Decottignies Lafon then prevailed with a birdie on the first extra hole and won his second tournament on the Pro Golf Tour this season.

With the win at the Wolf Open 2021, the Frenchman also took the overall lead in the tour standings.

Holledau managing director Andreas Zeising was very satisfied with the way the event went.

The club members fully supported the event and made it a success, be it as volunteers or expert spectators on the fairways.

The PGT professionals would have felt very much at home at GC Holledau and would not have saved up on praise for the organizer.
