At least one person was killed and six others injured on Wednesday (August 11th) in a landslide on a road in India's northern Himalayas, authorities said.

Six people were rushed to local hospitals with injuries.
At least one person is dead,
”a local police official in Himachal Pradesh state, bordering Tibet, told AFP.
“
We believe that a bus and or a truck and a few cars are also under the rubble.
But the situation is not clear because the landslide (...) is still in progress,
”he added.

Relief can only begin when the rocks have stopped falling and the slope is stable,
" he said.
Local police say "
25 to 30 passengers are stranded or trapped at the site of the incident
."
Landslides are common in the Himalayan region of northern India, especially during the monsoon season, when heavy rains cause subsidence of soil and rocks.
These phenomena are exacerbated by climate change, which makes the monsoon more irregular and melts glaciers higher in the mountains.
