A 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck southeast of the Philippine city of Bubon today, but there were no reports of casualties, or human or material damage.
Reuters quoted the US Geological Survey as saying in a statement that a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck an area about 66 km southeast of Bubbon in the Philippines, at a depth of 50 km.
The tsunami warning system ruled out the aftermath of the earthquake, but warned of the occurrence of aftershocks.
The Philippines is also located in the so-called "Ring of Fire", an area where earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are active, making it one of the world's most disaster-prone countries.
