Update, August 10, 10:25 a.m.: Missing recovered dead
As reported by the Holzkirchen police station, a man got into the Mangfall on Sunday evening (August 8) and has been missing since then.
"On Monday, August 9th, only the body of the missing person could be found and recovered," said spokesman Stefan Sonntag from the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria-South.
The criminal police are investigating the death.
On Sunday evening, shortly after 8 p.m., several men in Müller celebrated on a tree near a weir.
For a previously unknown cause, a 39-year-old man who lived in Hausham got into the water and was swept away by the strong current.
His companions had not been able to save him.
The search by the water rescue team, which started immediately after the alarm, was unsuccessful until late at night.
Both the Mangfall River and the canal branching off at the scene of the accident were searched unsuccessfully as far as Thalham.
The missing person search continued on Monday.
“At around 1 p.m., water rescue workers were able to locate a lifeless person in the Mangfall, about 1.7 kilometers downstream from the point where the man got into the water the evening before, and finally rescue them from the water,” explains Stefan Sonntag.
"Any help came too late for the missing person, he had already died." The on-site checks made it certain that it was the missing 39-year-old.
The Criminal Police Service (KDD) from Rosenheim took over the investigation into the case for the criminal police.
So far, there have been no indications of third-party debt for the investigators.
First report from August 9th:
On Sunday (August 8th), shortly after 8 p.m., three men celebrated their birthdays at the Wehr in Müller am Baum.
“For some inexplicable reason, a 39-year-old Hungarian from Hausham ran into the water and was swept away by the floods of the elevated Mangfall,” said the Holzkirchen police station.
"His two companions no longer succeeded in pulling him to the bank."
An immediate search by the water watch led to no success until late at night.
The Mangfall was searched as far as Thalham, as was the canal branching off at the scene of the accident.
The search for missing persons will continue on Monday, August 9th.
The DLRG local association Gmund was also involved in the operation.
"At around 8:30 p.m., the water rescue workers on the Mangfall were alerted," a statement said.
“The terrain in the search area is very impassable and dangerous due to the many trees in the water.
Due to the darkness, this was very demanding for the emergency services. "
The mission had to be aborted after about three hours without any results.
