Originally, Andreas Lesser, managing partner of TONI Immobilien, had a total of 30 oak, linden, walnut, chestnut and maple trees planted on the former Hettlage property on which his company is currently building the Neuried campus.
25 trees move, two do not survive the move
During the construction work it turned out that the terrain is sloping, which is why drainage must be drawn in the ground.
Because there were 25 trees in the way, a specialist company transplanted them to the green area next to the children's home around two years ago, in consultation with the municipal administration.
The trees and their roots were shoveled out of the ground, loaded onto vehicles and placed in the ground at their new location.
Two trees did not survive the move.
The Neuried campus is expected to be completed in 2022
The new place was only intended for a limited period of time.
Here the trees should recover, continue to grow and be moved back as soon as the Neuried campus is finished.
However, in order not to expect the deciduous trees to move to another location, including uprooting, transport and renewed recovery time, the client Lesser re-planned: He donated the 23 trees to the Neuried community and decided to have new trees planted on the Neuried campus, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
The newly emerging football field is for everyone
The trees next to the children's house can now continue to grow, and Mayor Harald Zipfel is delighted. He is planning a football field on the previously unused green area, which is surrounded by trees. There is a need: The old football field next to the Zauberwald children's home on Zugspitzstrasse is to be used again for agriculture as soon as the magic forest moves in the coming year. The two football goals will then be moved to the donated trees on the property next to the children's home on Maxhofweg. Zipfel: "The new football field being created there is intended for everyone."
