After the forced Corona break, it was that time again: The Nandlstadt Snuff Club invited people to sniff their prices.

And there was a surprise on the podium.

- "Open the can, ready, go" is the command at the snuff competition. But this request was not made for a long time, because the pandemic made meetings and competitions of this kind impossible. So take a deep breath on Saturday at the first meeting of the Nandlstädter Schnupfclub in Hausmehring. Chairman Max Weinmann welcomed 34 members to the Gasthaus Huber - in addition to the new elections (we reported) and honors, the obligatory sniffing of prices was a must. Corona-compliant, of course, with a corresponding distance, but without further hurdles: i.e. without a mask.

Nine participants showed their noses - including the entire women's quartet with Rotraud Grottenthaler, Christine Bichlmaier, Rosmarie Rauscher and Christine Altkrüger, who triumphed as German runner-up two years ago.

In several rounds, each participant was allowed to try their luck, namely to get exactly five grams of Schmalzler from a box as completely as possible in the nose.

And that in a minute, which is why speed and dexterity were required.

The Schmalzler procedure was sure to cheer up the cold noses, and especially the women and Hermann Kunert heard many encouraging words.

Most of the participants did not notice the break in the competition due to Corona.

After all, once you have found out how to bring the snuff out of the can using your thumb and forefinger under your nostrils, you won't forget this technique anytime soon.

In addition, Corona could not avoid that some noses were kept fit for this procedure at home at this time.

The award ceremony was eagerly awaited: Georg “Zeima” Stanglmaier, actually always considered the title candidate, had to be content with fourth place this year.

With 3.7 out of a possible five grams, the secret favorite didn't even make it onto the podium, which was also disappointing for the "Zeima-Schos": "Bad form of the day."

Christine Bichlmaier is completely different.

With 3.777 grams, Christine Bichlmaier was doing very well, which brought her victory in the women’s standings and the big trophy.

The other women also made people sit up and take notice with their results, for example the second-placed Rotraud Grottenthaler with 3.08 grams, the third, Rosmarie Rauscher, with 2.974 grams and the fourth, Christine Altkrüger, with 2.1 grams Grottenthaler weighing 4.52 grams, which earned him the "Franz Grottenthaler Memorial Cup".

The fight for second place was exciting, in which Schnupfer boss Max Weinmann (4.143 grams) was only 0.023 grams ahead of Georg Rauscher (4.12).
