Police announced this morning (Wednesday) that a 40-year-old man from Holon will be charged with sexually assaulting an 83-year-old woman in a nursing home in Tel Aviv.

The statement said the assault file, which was deafened last week, had been deciphered thanks to a lollipop left by the suspect at the scene of the incident.

According to the suspect, last Monday the suspect entered the building and dragged the elderly woman to her bed, while he leaned over her and blocked her mouth with his hand, but fled the scene following the elderly woman's cries.

After a search operation that included gathering documentation from security cameras and collecting evidence, police arrested the suspect and brought him in for questioning.

In the coming days, the prosecution is expected to file an indictment against the suspect and a request to continue his detention until the end of the proceedings.

About two weeks ago, police arrested a foreign citizen from Eritrea on suspicion of breaking into a woman's home in south Tel Aviv, raping her and causing her bruises and fractures all over her body.

The charges against him are burglary, aggravated assault and rape.

Police initially arrested a suspect in the act, but released him after it became clear that the woman had pointed during an identification parade at another person who had not been summoned for questioning by the police at all.

Police later arrested another suspect in the acts.
