The General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing has taken all necessary measures to market the entire beloved cotton crop for the 2021-2022 season.
The Director General of the Corporation, Engineer Zaher Al-Attal, indicated in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the Corporation has completed all the necessary preparations to market the beloved cotton crop, especially in Aleppo and the eastern regions, where the receiving centers in Raqqa were equipped to receive cotton from the governorate’s farmers, in addition to the creation of another center in the Deir Ezzor gin, expected The quantities of grain cotton delivered to the gins should exceed 80,000 tons.
Al-Attal pointed out that the cotton of Al-Hasakah governorate will be marketed in the receiving centers in other governorates, provided that the Cotton Corporation will pay remunerative transportation fees to the farmers, noting that the government has set encouraging prices to receive the cotton crop at 1500 pounds, while in the last season it was 800 pounds, provided that the price remains moving according to The reality of receiving, taking into account the costs of agriculture and ensuring a profitable financial return for the farmers.
Regarding the readiness of the gins, Al-Attal confirmed that the Corporation is in full readiness to receive the cotton crop and start the process of ginning it according to the initial production indicators, as 6 gins were equipped to receive the cotton from the farmers. It is currently operated by the Euphrates Mill.
As for the reality of agriculture, Engineer Ahmed Hamidi, Head of the Field Crops Department at the Plant Production Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture, confirmed with a similar statement that the cotton crop still maintains an advanced position among the strategic crops despite the difficulties facing the cultivation process, which led to a shrinking of the cultivated areas, as the areas planted with the cotton crop for this year reached 29.5 thousand hectares out of the planned plan, amounting to 40 thousand hectares, with an implementation rate of
