Surviving Death -Official Trailer (Netflix)

In the video: The trailer for the series "Surviving Death"

A near-death experience is an experience that sometimes occurs during clinical death. People who have experienced clinical death describe it as an out-of-body experience that includes, among other things, seeing bright white light, a supreme sense of pleasure and a description of experiences at intensities beyond what can be imagined. Psychologist Chris French argues that the near-death experience can manifest itself in a variety of different ways that can be divided into two main categories: good and bad.

Chris French, Head of the Research Unit in Anomalistic Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London, spoke to The Mirror about the phenomenon. "Usually the core experience is a sense of peace and happiness. An out-of-body experience and entry into another spiritual dimension," he said, "Some may see deceased relatives and religious figures as well as themselves returning to their bodies. Of course it is very rare for anyone to experience all of this in this order." .

According to Chris, near-death experiences can be negative and actually quite frightening.

He added: "The 'bad' experiences are divided into 3. The first is where the person is worried and naturally terrified that he is dead. The second is almost a stereotypical version of hell with demons and pitchforks. The third and most chilling experience in my eyes is those who find themselves in space , Completely alone, knowing that they are stuck there forever, unknowingly. It is often wondered if science can explain what is experienced in a near-death experience. After all, for centuries people have described 'white light advancing towards them' - but as you can see, the experience is different Every time".

Fascinatingly, Chris argues, someone who goes through a positive death threshold experience becomes less materialistic, more spiritual and generally shows higher caring for other people and his environment.

He added: "They may find it difficult to put into words what they felt and worry that people will think they are crazy, when in fact it is clear that they are not. "Divorce in those who have experienced a high death threshold. Others may think they are married to a saint, maybe they will sell the house and even give it to charity. People change their ways, become better people, value life more."

Threshold experiences reduce the fear of death - but if the experience is negative, it can also increase the fear of death, when it was found that many people subsequently suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms.

When Chris was asked what he thought was behind the experience, he replied: "Opinions are divided. The question is how do you interpret it? Some people believe it is exactly what it looks like, a glimpse into the afterlife, when your mind is separated from the body. Others believe it is a vision of a dying mind, "It's actually a strange thing that happens in the brain - and the near-death experience very noticeably shows what it's like to be in this brain event."

Women describe their near-death experience:

Does the near-death experience provide a glimpse into the afterlife?

A new study conducted jointly by the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and the University of Liege (Belgium) and published in Brain Communications shows how death threshold experiences in humans result from evolutionary mechanisms.

The study examined the hypothesis that pretending to die in animals for survival purposes is the evolutionary source of near-death experiences in humans and indeed found that the phenomenology and effects of the two overlap, with both having a common goal - to survive.

Chris also referred to this study: "This is definitely another proof of the truth of the phenomenon. Hopefully more studies will shed more light, literally, on the subject."
