The bus traffic was stopped this evening (Thursday) between Ma'ale Adumim and Jerusalem, following six cases in which residents of the east of the city threw stones at the buses and lightly injured passengers, including a passenger who was hit directly by a stone.

The Union of Forced Transportation Committees for Workers has threatened to strike next week "following the escalation of the threat" on the lines.

Since the beginning of the month, 50 stone-throwing incidents have been reported, most of which have not been addressed at all.

Tamar Ohana, head of a branch jointly for the public transport industry by force for workers, said that "whenever the strike threatens, the police undertake to act, but their activities are limited to non-existent. The price is paid by passengers and drivers. Only the strike will save lives."

In April, during clashes in the east between young Arabs and police forces, stones were thrown at Egged Line 3 bus, which made its way to the Western Wall and was attacked near the Nablus Gate.

There were no casualties in the incident.

The Israeli bus drivers' organization from the Histadrut said at the time that "a bus is seen by civilians and terrorists as a clear government symbol and therefore they want to harm it. Only recognizing bus drivers as public employees can save their lives and the lives of passengers. The day a bus driver dies closer than ever."
