In the night from Thursday (January 31, 2019) to Friday (February 1, 2019) a man broke into an apartment on Friesenstrasse in the east of Regensburg.
At about 2:15 a.m., a 23-year-old came home and met an unknown man in the stairwell.
When she got to the door of her apartment, she found that it was open.
In the apartment she finally realized that there was a break-in and a low three-digit amount of cash was missing.
The woman immediately called the police, but the search for the man was initially unsuccessful.
Regensburg: Suspected burglar already several times criminal
It was only after more than a year, in March 2020, that the suspected intruder could be identified through a database hit.
It was a man of Hungarian nationality who had committed several criminal offenses.
The now 27-year-old is also advertised for arrest by various public prosecutors in Germany.
A few weeks later, the investigators at the Regensburg Criminal Police Inspection * were informed that the wanted person was in custody for other crimes in Hungary.
He then had to serve a prison sentence in Hungary until the beginning of August 2021.

Burglar from the 2019 admitted to correctional facility
Officials from the Regensburg Criminal Police Inspection then set out for Hungary and picked up the alleged intruder from prison.
Because there was a European arrest warrant against him, he was presented to the responsible investigating judge in Regensburg on Thursday (August 5, 2021) and then taken to a correctional facility.
Now the man has to answer, among other things, because of the urgent suspicion of burglary.
