Authorities have arrested Matthew Taylor Coleman, 40, an American surfer on Wednesday accused of having kidnapped his two children in the United States, taking them to Mexico and murdering them in Baja California.
Coleman has assured the agents that he knew he was doing wrong, but that "it was the only course of action that would save the world", since it was "illuminated by the conspiracy theories of QAnon and the Illuminati", as reflected in the lawsuit prepared by US federal agents.
The mother of the children - two years and ten months old - filed a complaint on August 7 when her partner took them away under the pretext of a camping trip, but never said where she was going or answered calls, as reported the AFP agency.

at the request of the children's mother, according to a statement from the California attorney general's office.
He had told her that he was taking his children camping, but did not elaborate and stopped communicating.
He also did not carry a car seat for the baby.
A day later, the police discovered that his last known location was Rosarito, in Baja California (Mexico). This city, just over 40 kilometers from the border, is an attraction for American tourists for its beaches, nightlife and waves to delight surfers, a sport that Coleman practiced and taught his children, according to his social media.
He crossed into the United States again the next day and the FBI took the opportunity to arrest him at the border. At the time, Coleman confessed to shooting his two sons with a speargun and leaving their bodies in Mexico, where they were found by Mexican authorities. He told officers he believed his children "were going to turn into monsters, so he had to kill them," according to the lawsuit. He also stated that he was "enlightened by the conspiracy theories of QAnon and the Illuminati and that he was receiving visions and signals that revealed that his wife (...) possessed snake DNA and had passed it on to their children." In his statement to federal authorities, the detainee said that he believed he was "saving the world from monsters."
Coleman, who worked at a surf school in Santa Barbara, was charged with the murder abroad of US citizens, and is at the disposal of the authorities.
