Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke this morning (Thursday) with senior HMOs and asked them to prepare for the expansion of the vaccination campaign with vaccination of additional age groups in the third dose as early as next week - ahead of the approval that is expected to be received by the vaccination committee.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister received a detailed overview of the situation with regard to the immunization efforts at the HMOs.
Commenting on the vaccination efforts, the Prime Minister said: "I estimate that tonight we will receive the approval of the epidemic treatment team to vaccinate a lower age group in the third complementary vaccine. Therefore, we must prepare for expanding the age range of the third vaccine next week. "
Bennett further thanked the medical staff and said: "I want to commend you for your work on vaccines, because it is simply life-saving. I am proud to be the Prime Minister of the country these are its main health organizations. "Citizens of Israel. We will continue to do this, together, and only in this way will we defeat the Delta."
Today, as mentioned, the expert committee for corona vaccines is expected to convene, to discuss the expansion of the booster vaccine.
As far as is known, the next step that emerges is the approval of a third dose for those aged 50 and over, vaccinating chronic patients under the age of 60 and vaccinating medical staff.
To date, staff vaccination has only been approved in psychiatric and geriatric hospitals and the committee will discuss expansion to all staff.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health released the refined morbidity data showing that the number of verified corona diagnosed yesterday stands at 5,946, out of 131,456 tests performed - the rate of positive tests stands at 4.62%.
The data from the Ministry of Health also stated that the number of active patients is 42,203, of whom 421 are hospitalized in critical condition in hospitals.
Of the severe patients, 87 are in critical condition and 65 are respiratory.
Since the outbreak of the plague in Israel, 6,593 people have died.
As of this morning, the number of people vaccinated in the first dose is 5,827,742, the number of people fully vaccinated with two vaccines is 5,406,232 and the number of people vaccinated in the third dose, the "booster dose," is 716,518.
