Prime Minister Naftali Bennett today (Thursday) asked Pfizer CEO Albert Burla to speed up the regulatory approval process for vaccinations for children aged 12 and under.

In a conversation the two had between them, Burla told Bennett that he sees great importance in the possibility of vaccinating children, and that he is doing and will do his best to speed up the process.

The two also discussed the operation of administering the third vaccine dose to those aged 60 and over in Israel, and agreed to continue to maintain direct and continuous contact between them.

Earlier today, Bennett asked senior HMO officials in Israel to prepare for the expansion of the vaccination campaign of administering the third vaccine dose to additional age groups as early as next week, in preparation for the approval that is expected to be received by the vaccination committee.

During the conversation, the Prime Minister received a detailed overview of the situation with regard to the immunization efforts at the HMOs.

Commenting on the vaccination efforts, Bennett said: "I estimate that tonight we will receive the approval of the epidemic treatment team to vaccinate a lower age group in the third complementary vaccine. Therefore, we must prepare for expanding the age range of the third vaccine next week. "To deal with the Delta strain without devastating damage to the economy, if possible. To meet this task, the immunization effort is the ultimate tool."

The next obvious step in administering the vaccines is to approve a third dose for those aged 50 and over, vaccinate chronic patients under the age of 60 and vaccinate medical staff. To date, staff vaccination has only been approved in psychiatric and geriatric hospitals, and the Corona Vaccine Expert Advisory Committee is expected to discuss expansion to all staff.
