Car theft gang arrested in Damascus

The Abbasid Police Department arrested a gang who broke car windows and stole their contents in the streets of Damascus.

The Ministry of Interior stated, in a statement that SANA received a copy of, that while one of the Abbasid Police Department’s patrols in Damascus was running at night in the Zabaltani area, a person was caught red-handed while he was breaking the windows of a car in order to steal its contents. That he belongs to a gang of four people who break car windows throughout the capital, Damascus, and sell the contents to two people who deal in stolen goods.

The ministry pointed out that by searching and investigating the gang members, three of them were arrested, as narcotic substances “hashish” were found in their possession.

The ministry indicated that stolen mobile devices, a modern laptop, a Russian Kalashnikov gun, a military pistol with their ammunitions, new chains that are used in baking ovens and narcotics were seized at the two persons’ home, as they were brought with the confiscations to the department center. And the search for them was broadcast, and by expanding the investigation with them, they admitted that they were disposing of everything that was stolen by the gang.

The ministry indicated that the sum of two million Syrian pounds was recovered out of the stolen amount, the necessary seizures were organized and all of them were referred to the competent judiciary.
