The new Corona resolutions are associated with some restrictions - especially for those who have not been vaccinated.

Streeck suggests a different plan for the coming months.

Bonn - At the Prime Minister's Conference on August 10th, Angela Merkel and the state leaders decided on new corona rules for the coming months.

Among other things, it was about compulsory testing for unvaccinated people, the 3-G rule (tested, vaccinated, recovered) and chargeable antigen rapid tests.

The stricter corona rules are particularly aimed at unvaccinated people.

Many experts criticize the decisions.

Virologist Hendrick Streeck sees the problem above all in the fact that measures and rules are again tied to the incidence value and the vaccination status of the population, as he explains in an interview with

Focus Online

.

Criticism of Corona resolutions: "There are also reasons against it"

The Bonn virologist Streeck also criticizes the 2-G rule thrown into the room by Markus Söder, according to which the tested should no longer be treated as vaccinated or genesis.

“With such a requirement, unvaccinated people meet more privately and there is more likely to be contagion than when they mix with vaccinated people,” criticizes Streeck.

He is also critical of the chargeable rapid antigen tests from October.

Because not every person can afford constant testing.

This would automatically result in compulsory vaccinations for financially weaker groups, says the virologist.

"Many of those who are currently not vaccinated are not opposed to the vaccination, but rather skeptical of the vaccination," says Streeck.

He therefore thinks it makes sense to provide more detailed information about the vaccines.

The main argument should be based on one's own health instead of protecting others.

Because even vaccinated people could occasionally become infected or transmit the virus, explains the expert.

"Anyone who decides against a vaccination is primarily risking their own health."

Corona resolutions: Expert presents alternative concept

Streeck advocates not underestimating the tests in autumn and winter: “We are in the transition phase from a pandemic to an endemic event.

In this phase in particular, the tests can be helpful to control the infection process well. ”Combined with good hygiene concepts, the risk of infection could be kept relatively low over the winter, he says in the interview.

With "good hygiene concepts" one could also prevent a new lockdown in winter.

Streeck believes that the return to old patterns, i.e. making openings dependent on certain areas or time limits, is wrong, as he

tells

.

He relies on the responsibility of restaurateurs and entrepreneurs to develop good concepts.

In addition, the virologist suggests that compliance with the requirements could be checked by means of a seal of quality.

“We could also stagger this seal.

To put it simply: the better the hygiene concept, the more freedom for the respective company, ”says Streeck's suggestion.

Virologist: "We will have to learn to live with the virus"

Scientists now hardly believe that the coronavirus will ever be completely eradicated.

For Streeck, living with Corona means creating new rooms for events, developing new strategies for teaching in schools and being more specific with tests.

"We should get into a mode in which we take care of each other, but in which Corona is no longer the center of everything we do."
