Currently, 362 members are ex officio members, such as the Hong Kong People’s Congress, CPPCC, and Legislative Council members. Another 156 are nominated by designated organizations; the remaining 982 (65.5%) are elected and involve 36 sectors.

As of August 12, the Election Committee has received 1,016 applications for the election, of which 603 candidates from 22 sectors can be automatically elected after passing the qualification review.
The remaining 14 sectors will vote on September 19, involving 413 candidates and 364 seats.
