Kamchatka / Russia - On Thursday (August 12th) a helicopter carrying tourists crashed on the Kamchatka peninsula in eastern Russia.
As the regional government announced, the helicopter crashed with a crew of 16 people in a lake in the Kronotsky nature reserve.
Eight people are said to have survived the crash.
The fate of the other passengers is currently not clear.
However, the emergency services no longer assume that they will find more survivors.
According to the regional government, there were three crew members and 13 tourists in the helicopter.
Numerous emergency services from the Russian Emergency Ministry and divers helped find the inmates.

The information on the number of people rescued is contradicting itself. According to local government representative Alexander Sabolichenko, eight passengers were saved alive. However, two of these people were critically injured. The incumbent health minister of the region, however, spoke of nine survivors. The authorities announced that the search and rescue operation had not yet ended.
According to the Tass news agency, the eight missing passengers are believed to be dead.
After the crash, the wreck of the helicopter sank to the bottom of Lake Kuril, about 100 meters deep.
An investigation into alleged security violations has been launched by a Russian investigative committee.
The helicopter's destination was the Chodutka volcano in the south of the peninsula, where it was supposed to take the tourists.
