There are two ways for local students to apply to universities, including those who can hold the diploma and apply through joint admissions, or apply through non-JUPAS with the International Baccalaureate (IB) and GCE A-levels.

A total of 130 IB champions were born in Hong Kong this year, the highest in the past year, and the proportion of students enrolled in the two major medical disciplines is a cause for concern.

The Faculty of Medicine of CUHK announced today that 186 DSE students will be admitted to the medical courses this year, and the joint enrollment ratio accounts for 70% of the total number of places. The level is the same as last year, but it is still lower than the 90% in 2019.

As for this year’s Diploma Examination, there are 7 champions with 5** or above in 7 subjects. Four of them will be admitted to the Department of Medicine at CUHK. They are Chen Kaiying from Diocesan Girls’ College, Chen Lerong from St. Stephen’s Girls’ School, and Yinghua Cheng Lang from the College, and Liang Boxian from Queen Elizabeth Middle School.

Among the 186 candidates admitted to the Faculty of Medicine of CUHK, based on the 7 subjects of the Diploma Examination, the median admission score for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery is 43 points, and the median admission score for the Global Medical Leadership Training Specialty Group is 47. point.

CUHK pointed out that Global Medicine has been the subject with the highest median admission score in Hong Kong for eight consecutive years.
