Damascus-SANA

Al-Assad National Library hosted this evening the premiere of the documentary film “You Will Not See,” which deals with the biography of the French philosopher Jean-Yves Lupitnal, who came to Syria at the end of the seventies of the last century.

The film, which was produced by Khayal and directed by Ahmed Abdel-Ghani Arafat, deals with the love story of the Lopetital for Syria, which began when he was a doctoral student at the Sorbonne University in France and toured Senegal and Lebanon, eventually settling and residing in Old Damascus until today.

The film deals with the influence of the French philosopher on the culture of the region, especially Sufism, showing scenes of the Lubitanal reading the poems of Ibn al-Farid and Sufi poets, his visit to Islamic and Christian religious places, and his close relations with his neighbors and with his students.

The film was followed by a seminar in which the director of the film, Arafat, considered that the rich experience of the French philosopher was what made the film successful.

As for Adnan Azzouz, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Qasioun Private University, he talked about the French philosopher's influence on Islamic mystical philosophical thought, who charted his biography, indicating that the Lupitnal experience is a purely human experience that draws from the spirituality of the East.

It is noteworthy that the French philosopher translated the collections of the Sufi poet Ibn Al-Farid into French with commentaries and prepared a book on the congruence between Sufism in the East and Europe.
