For a few days, calls to older citizens have been increasing, reports the Tölzer police.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - In Bad Tölz, but also in the surrounding area, there have been several calls from con artists in the past few days.
The scam was always similar: "The caller pretended to be Thomas Sommer and an employee of the Sparkasse, but the name and the person can change at any time," says Sparkasse spokesman Willi Streicher.
Caller tries to get the account information
During the conversation, the stranger tries to get the called party's account details.
"He's very clever and asks depending on the course of the conversation.
For example, he asks about lockers and states that keys have to be exchanged, asks about savings accounts and even tries to make appointments for any handovers, ”says Streicher.
Trick scams will continue the next day
The next day, an alleged police officer called who wanted to question the savings bank customers about the exchange of lockers for valuables or cash at home, according to the police.
The citizens called so far recognized the scam, ended the conversation and informed the right police.
Police warn: Never reveal private data on the phone
The officials warn against revealing private information over the phone.
“When the Sparkasse calls, they never ask for account or secret numbers.
We only need legitimation data when the customer calls us, ”emphasizes Streicher.
"In case of doubt, it is always best to secure yourself with the Sparkasse, for example by calling 0 80 41/8 00 7-0." If someone detects fraud on the phone, the call should be ended immediately.
