The Police Force announced today (12th) that Yuan Xujian, who was formerly the Deputy Commissioner of Operations (Operations) and also the Commissioner of Criminal and Security, was appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police to replace Xiao Zeyi, who was promoted to Commissioner of Police in June.

Yuan Xujian, 55 years old, joined the Hong Kong Police Force in 1986 as an inspector.
During his service in the police force, he was mainly stationed in the criminal department and has rich experience in criminal investigation. He has held various criminal positions related to criminal intelligence, serious crime and triad investigation, commercial crime investigation and policy formulation.
He was promoted to Senior Superintendent in 2010, Chief Superintendent in 2016, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Criminal) in 2019, and Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2020, serving as Criminal and Security Division Director.
According to information on the police website, he holds a law degree and a master's degree in business administration, and has taken courses at the National School of Administration, Tsinghua University and other overseas colleges.
